Today is a Black Moon (second new/dark moon in a calendar month).

"the fairy queen and the black moonshine" (Figgy Duff)

"I'll see you on the dark side of the moon" (Pink Floyd)

It is also Festival of Enormous Changes at the Last Minute.

“sons of long forgotten races, that the darkest night embraces”
(Ron Hynes and Declan O’Doherty; I’m not sure which of
them wrote that line; comment if you know)

But of course the dark moon is up in the daytime, not
nighttime, and it may shine a bit with reflected blue
Earthlight, but I doubt that was responsible for my
blue rose vision pre-dawn Sept. 6, 1991 in Vancouver.

It is also the dark moon closest to the winter solstice,
and is cloudy here in St. John’s, so it is truly the
darkest night, though it would be darker if I was
out around the bay, as I was for Christmas.

Happy New Year (“hug many”) in advance to any readers.

And it is a coincidence that both the new/dark moon
of December 30 and the Wolf Full Moon of
January 13 were/will be at 6:56 p.m. NST
or 2226 UTC.
